About

In 1999, we purchased 67 acres, in Copperopolis, Calaveras County, home of the Jumping Frogs of Mark Twain fame. The rolling grassland is surrounded by hills with lush oaks and seasonal streams. We planted 10 acres of Vineyards, 2 Red and 2 White varieties. A pond just off the property is fed by springs from our land. We have a fully operational winery with a 33' x 66' covered crush pad, which we use for events. We've hosted weddings, birthday celebrations, work events and anniversaries. The enclosed winery building offers places to taste in inclement weather! Depending upon your interest we will taste, but can also talk about the local history and give vineyard tours. We have a new shower and can leave access to this along with 2 ADA rest rooms. A deck in the back of the building overlooks the vineyards and surrounding area. Our Salt Springs Valley was inhabited for over 1000 years by the Miwok Indians. In 1852, Madame Felix, from Bordeaux France immigrated and built a waystation or tavern in the Valley about a mile from our Vineyards. This started the settlement of the town of Felix(you can Google that)! Her husband that she married in 1859 planted some of the first grape vines in Calaveras County. Mail was delivered to Felix until 1960. As you drive in from Hwy 4 on Hunt Road, you'll notice the Salt Springs Reservoir and a white building. This one room school house served the community until 1948 and hosted the filming of The Little House On The Prairie.
